Alan Eugene Jackson, born on October 17, 1958, in Newnan, Georgia, is a renowned American country music singer and songwriter. He is celebrated for his neotraditional country style, blending honky-tonk and mainstream country sounds. Jackson's career took off in the late 1980s after moving to Nashville, where he was discovered by a music-publishing company. In 1989, he became the first artist signed to the country division of Arista Records, releasing his debut album, Here in the Real World. The album's title track, co-written by Jackson, established him as a prominent voice in country music.
